I enthusiastically agree, and I believe that Peirce would as well. I am not using my primary computer at the moment, and I can't search CP. But anyone who can should search for the point that he does not "reflect" in words, but in diagrams. As I recall, it's in CP 1. For Peirce, words are secondary, and diagrams are primary. Since the MSS are all we have as the starting points, we must begin with the words. But to understand the words, we must dig beneath the words to get to the diagrams -- including the icons and hypoicons -- that formed and informed Peirce's thought. John
