»The U.S. and EU have never once given support to an actual democratic movement in any of the world's weaker nations.« Not exactly true. A movement might start as genuinely democratic and then be corrupted by US/EU aid. The policy elites count on that. Of course, it depends on what's meant by "genuinely democratic." ------Original Message------ From: Carrol Cox Sender: [email protected] To: Progressive Economics ReplyTo: Progressive Economics Subject: Re: [Pen-l] When did nato start supplying arms to the rebels Sent: Apr 20, 2011 8:21 AM
The U.S. and EU have never once given support to an actual democratic movement in any of the world's weaker nations. The question posed idn teh subject line is redundant since it is a given that a movement supported in any way by the EU or US is not a democratic movement. The very existence of a debate among leftists on this topic is immenselly sdaddening. It seems evident that large numbers of leftists in the U.S. are left in a purely sentimental and passive sense, jhaviang no interest in building an actual left but merely in enjoying themselves by wallowing in warm cozy sense of their own moral purity.
