I'm currently trying to get into plotting scientific data with PDL (which I never used
before) and PLplot.
It would be much easier to dive in if there was a cookbook with models for plotting like Matplotlib's [1] or R's [2] or a simple list of examples like in NCL [3].

For scientific plotting, you should be able to get a plot by copy-pasting an example from a
tutorial and start from that.
The PLplot site mentions some example but there are very low-level and none of it uses Perl.

As an example, I tried to plot data from an ASCII text file and I had to skim the documentation
for quite some time before finding what I wanted.
Also, most of the documents in the PDL book use pdl command-line and example with perl scripts would be welcomed as the interface between PDL and perl (for a newbie like me) is not trivial.

Anyway, kudos for the good work, it looks awesome.

Cheers,

Dear PDL Users-

In an effort to gauge the progess of PDL development in functionality
and usability, I would invite you to reply to me or to list with a quick
message about your PDL use:

- How long have you used PDL?
- What PDL version do you use?
- Best thing(s) about PDL
- Worst thing(s) about PDL
- I would use PDL more (or at all) if only ...
- Any suggestions for PDL development?

The goal is to improve the PDL experience and to encourage a
broader PDL user community.

Thanks much,
Chris Marshall (PDL-2.007 release manager)
