Probably requires more investment than anyone is willing to give to
developing a BIOS. It does make you wonder what will happen as wifi
becomes more and more prevalent, though. However I suppose for 90% of
situations requiring PXE it's going to be enterprise fully wired
environments anyway.

Yes, this should be fine, providing the AP is configured to forward
the appropriate traffic, as you say.
