I killed magigdev on my com, puter, then burned a CDR using gtoaster. I tried xcdroast
initially, but it tried to burn off of my cd reader and eventually crashed without a
GUI text error message.

Anyway, gtoaster burned the disk correctly with the CDR being able to be successfully
mediachecked on my laptop. I still had the problem with loading the GUI installer,
but the CDR burning from 7.3 to versions beyond were my major concern.

Thanks for passing on the explaination regarding the 5 second refresh for magicdev.
It was most likely the incorporation of the timeouts into my burned image that was
fouling up these CDRs.

It sounds like the path to lock access down for the in process burns is the perfect
path to follow. I hope that the efforts of the developers is fruitful. Also, RH8.0
seems to be atracting converts to the Red Hat distro from win2k and beyond.
concentratiing on this distro to be as clean and reliable as possible is most likely
the best path to consider, until the lockdown of the critical devices is completed
for phoebe3 development.

Good luck,

Jim
