Bill, as advised over a week ago, I *have* removed magicdev.

I'm still having the same problems. So far, I was successful in
burning *one* audio CD, as for the rest, burn, erase, X-CD-Roast,
GnomeToaster, CLI.... NO SUCCESS....

Most of the time the burn will go to almost 80 % and then crap
out, *or* fixate without finishing the burn, so that even if I can 
mount and read the (data) CD, the burn is _definitely_ defective.

that's why I'm anxiously awaiting rawhide updates....
