i found and installed one of these kits, and it works fine on the 10" LPs i have - i don't have any 12" tho.
the installation instructions are excellently written, and as i went through the process i felt a great connection to the writer across all those years. it was a cool experience. the directions are quite explicit about the need for a 2-spring motor, and altho i'm too lazy to check right now, i believe all DD motors were able to have a second spring barrel installed without modification...and that the barrel was available separately for the purpose of the conversion.
