I find claims of these too myopic for comfort.

You could say "Linux is the be-all and end-all" and still get berated by
other OS freaks. You could say "Roman Catholicism is the One True
Religion" and still get pissed on my Muslims and Satanists.

The magic word is *could*.

From my bowl when there's a spoon? Why should I run barefoot when
there's running shoes (or shoes that can run by themselves)?

Why should I use guns, goons and gold to dominate the world when I can
just write software that *actually* works and does just that?

No, I like to think elisp solves some of *my world's* problems. It is
another tool I could use, along with C, assembly language, 1337sP34k,
and vulgar language to rid myself of bugs and those who bug me.
