it was a bit of a pain to get this going (Ubuntu/lxd on a NUC, iirc
downgraded to 16.04* to make it work) but once it is running,
Ubiquity/Unifi is solid and imho worth that 1 time pain.

I went in with router/GW switch, AP and since then am running IoT/media/*
vlans (haven't bothered before, can be done on other HW as well, but it was
trivial in Unify), a restricted DNS, and some more things like VPNs... all
of which I got setup without shooting myself in the foot too often (I lack
knowledge and patience to do that stuff on my other consumer network
infrastructure HW).
