As to whack-a-mole, I think the BBC have decided they only want people using Apps or the BBC web site because they have tighter control of those. They probably regret ever officially supporting third party hardware internet radios, the feed for them (which this plugin uses) probably only still exists because the BBC don't think they can get away with annoying the manufacturers.
