There have been a lot of changes to the portaudio wasapi implementation
in the 6 weeks since the source was moved to github and the squeezelite
windows v1.9.7-128x builds include everything up to and including Oct
28th.

The Squeezelite portaudio implementation requests 32bit samples when
opening a device and relies on portaudio to do dithering if required.

Perhaps you can share how are you checking the bit depth at which the
wasapi device is running in the 'squeezelite thread'
or start a new one, as this is not really a squeezelite-x problem.

Thanks,
