Unfortunately, it's been the better part of a year since I played around with WHS, so it's eluding me. All I can say is that when I configured a machine with WHS, I was able to hook it up with a monitor, keyboard & mouse, log on locally and install what I wanted to install in the normal fashion. I'm not sure exactly how one would do that using the WHS client console, or whatever it's called.
Once thing you might try: download the zipped version of SCPowerTool: http://srvrpowerctrl.googlecode.com/files/SCPowerTool_latest.zip to your non-WHS client machine, unzip it and then try to copy the exe files to the \windows folder on the WHS machine. You'll need lots of administrative privileges to do this.
