Ok, just changed all my URLs to HTTPS and managed to install everything correctly. It still didn't prompt me to restart the server after the installation so, so what appears to happen is that all reference to the plugin disappears from the plugins page...
Regarding the settings page, does the description in the GitHub README.md provide enough detail?
