Well, your experience with Pastors and Ministers making big bucks is much different than my experiences!
With the exception of the Catholic Church, I am not aware of many Churches owning "Prime Real Estate", and if they do, for instance in downtown areas, it is because they have occupied those properties for hundreds of years. On the one hand, you clamor for the separation of Church and State, which keeping Churches tax exempt does in fact benefit that separation, because it keeps the government out of Church finances. Moreover, most denominations provide crucial social service to their respective communities, which is invaluable and far outweighs any taxes collected upon their properties.
