Do you need to refer to the constitution before you wipe your ass? It is an axiomatic necessity that no religious deity should be able to influence the affairs of state in a functioning democracy. There is no surer sign of the advanced decay of bourgeois democracy throughout the world than its desperate reactionary capitulation to backward religious obscurantism.
When governments extol the sacred virtures of their culture, their religion, their way of life, what they are doing is cynically attempting to preserve the status quo and their position of power in society.
