But Zebs, there is a difference between ethics and morality; one person's morality may not be the same as another's; feminism is just such an example. I believe in God, but I don't believe in organized religion, and I don't want any group affiliated with an organized religion influencing my children, especially in the school system. It is my right to determine what my children are taught in regard to a religious premise, and my choice is to teach them what I believe, while allowing them the right and option to make their own choice when they are old enough to do so.
As for separation of church and state - it most certainly was recognized by the Supreme Court of the United States in 1868 in the case of Reynolds vs. The United States. Furthermore, most of the founding fathers were in favor of such a separation, which is why the freedom of religion clause is in the Constitution. The biggest falsity I hear in discussion is that the United States is a "Christian" nation, when, in fact, that is not even remotely accurate. We are a nation of blended religions, including the religions that each claim to be the one true Christian religion.
