That's sweet, Hollywood! My mother had a private room for a month at a fancy resthome and was promised smoking privileges. The plan was to move her home with private nursing and get my ex to sign divorce papers. So I am hit on by the director- he invited me to have lunch to discuss my mother but he spent the entire lunch explaining his "open marriage" and experiences in Viet Nam. Anyway, I said "NO" so he gave my mother till the end of the month to find new quarters. She died exactly at the end of the month. And I thought my husband could help so we tried again. Man- what a guilt trip! Eventually, I disentangled myself with the help of a personal injury attorney- what is more of a personal injury than a bad marriage? He also was stuck in a bad marriage- an indiscretion run amuck. He had a funny story about his group getting stuck in a beer factory during the Korean War. A gem of a man sadly gone. Anyway, the divorce took 3 years to battle out- sometimes I can hardly believe I survived- but I did and so did the children. But we were wounded so I guess that's how soldiers must feel coming home.
