I agree with you, that there is absolutely no distinction between a hateful act bestowed upon a Gay individual because he is Gay, than there is beating or killing a Black, or Asian, or any other group or ethnicity, because they are a "Woman/Black/Gay/Asian/Hispanic"; etc., etc., etc.
The distinction, is that there are already existing laws in all 50 states to punish violent crime, making this proposed Bill, H.R. 1913, *e.g.;* the "Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act"; and most of the time referred to as the, "Matthew Shepard Act", unnecessary, unfair, indefinable, un-American and constitutionally suspect. Laws in civilized nations have always been designed to punish conduct, not thought. H.R. 1913 is not designed to aid in crime fighting. Punishing wrong beliefs about homosexuality is the sole aim of H.R. 1913. H.R. 1913 is one more step in the campaign to legitimize homosexuality in our culture by treating it as a protected class along with race, gender, and religion. The long term goal is to create one more platform from which to eradicate wrong thinking about homosexuality. H.R. 1913 will undoubtedly pave the way to legislation that will make thinking Biblically about homosexuality a "hate crime." It is the goal of a number of far left extremists with a secularist agenda, and Antii-Christian groups who intend to use "provisions"; (*e.g.;* "loop holes") in the proposed legislation to muzzle Churches from speaking out on Biblical standards of morality which are shared by most Americans. Unnecessary lawsuits will bring a chilling effect to the free speech and religious liberty of our churches and of our members. By example, the far left militant Gay organizations have outright lied about Matthew Shepard in the first place! These Gay militant organizations have portrayed Shepard as being the victim of a hate crime. That he was murdered because he was Gay, which is simply untrue, yet these gay militant organizations sill continue to parade such a falsehood, and the far left extremist media, namely Keith Olberman and MSNBC continue to perpetrate the lie, and literally bash anyone who attempt to reveal the truth about Shepard's murder!!!
