KIT, Jesus Christ, must we go over all of this yet again? Our political "leaders' of BOTH parties have been complete, self-serving morons concerning energy policy and the approach to alternative fuels to carbon based fuels for decades now.
BIG hint, do you remember the OPEC oil embargo of 1973, over 35 fucking years ago? What did all our illustrious leaders say? You don't remember all the impassioned speeches, from BOTH party's "leaders" about how "Americans will never be held hostage by "foreign oil" ever again"? How about the promises to devote as much money and "American know-how" as needed to sovle this issue? No we probably can't solve the problem in 3 to 5 years. What if we had began in earnest 35 fucking years ago? For Christ's Sake, Henry Ford and Rudolph Deisel fully intended for their engines to run on vegtable based oil or ethyl alcohol 100 years ago. Henry Ford built a car out of help plant fiber and run on hemp seed oil in 1941. Anything, from plastics, to fertiziler, to paint to fuel for cars & trucks, currently made from the fossil fuel normally called oil can be made from hemp seed oil. Everything currently made from wood can be made using the fiber from the hemp plant. The Constituion was printed on paper made from hemp. Ever heard the expression "he was hung with a good hemp rope"? We've only been aware of this for 100 years or so. And that is Just ONE little plant, the hemp plant. I could go on and on and on. But I've done it many times before and some people just don't want to listen. Our political leaders haven't been doing any leading on this since before I was born, gutless wonders that they are. No will, no guts, no imagination whatsoever.
