Yes, Hollywood, when the primary defense a doctor has is "I ran a test
and it said this" a primary motive is defense against lawsuits...
Relaying on test 3-4 months or older is no defense when the standard
is "the best practice possible as defined by the most modern
hospitals"... Go ask some of your doctor friends... Greed is however
a motive by all actors in this debate, regulators, insurance
companies, doctors, lawyers, patients, politicians, hospitals, HMOs,
nursing homes, the AMA nurses, ... Why is it the discussion on greed
is limited to insurance companies and doctors???

The point is there can by no cost containing long term health care
reform without tort reform.... Why??? Lawsuits are a principal
driver in raising health care costs... Why are the Democrats
refusing to confront one of their biggest donors IF they are taking a
principled rather than political stance???
