Kat pulled the wrapper off of her lollipop and stuck it in her mouth sucking
it for a moment. She was trying to think if this was the kind of secret it
was okay to keep from her mother. "Don't worry," she said after a moment.
"I won't tell anyone!"
Julia winked and pointed back toward the room, "Let's go make sure your
mom's all tucked in and Nick hasn't dozed off."
With that she gave Kat a pig-back ride back to the room and let her slide
down, once inside, to rejoin her mom before Julia went to Nick and handed
him a lollipop.
"And here's your treat from yesterday." she grinned.
There was a knock on the door and then the doctor entered "Hello, all. Just
came by for the routine check up."
Then he saw Kat "Ah, you must be Kat. Your mom's said a lot about you. You
know that she's being released this afternoon, right?"
He asked this just to reassure the girl that Rachel was fine enough to
leave. He had a daughter himself and knew how a child could worry.
Rachel smiled and stroked her daughter's hair and suggested "Why don't you
go do your thing with Julia and Nick and then come back by. I'll even call
Julia on her cell so you know what time they're letting me go exactly."
