I hate to put myself in the undefensible position of defending Blackhawk,
but I have to. They are all friends of the family. I've known Dave Robbins
for 15 years. Back when he first moved to Nashville and all he had to his
name was a baby grand piano. I've done my best to drown his kids David and
Trey and couple of times. We've got photos of Dave jumping into the pool,
fat and bald. Van's a family friend too. Dave and Van wrote a bunch of
hit's for a bunch of people. For a long time, they were the main
songwriters behind Restless Heart. Henry Paul, while being one of the
ugliest men in America today, still deserves a little bit of credit for his
younger days. He brought the tunes Freeborn Man and Knoxville Girl to the
Outlaws. He rocked his ass off with the Henry Paul Band as well.

They put on a good live show. Yes they are popish, but I love Henry's
voice. I think they have suffered a lot from production. I would like to
see them do a straight Bluegrass album. I think you might be suprised.

As for Diamond Rio, they have one of the best trio going in Bluegrass. If
you ever saw that old TNN Christmas Special where they ripped throu Tex
Logan's Christmas Time's a Coming you would be so quick to sentence them to
death. And as long as Jimmy Olander plays a B-Bender, I can forgive him of
most crimes.
