Thank you very much for all the helpful suggestions. I have decided to go down 
the transport maps route, as it means I can just quickly pop in the delivery 
settings, temporarily, while I wait for the client to update DNS. It's a bit 
ugly, but it saves me using the embarrassing gmail address I've got for odd 
occasions like this.
