Well, as an "archivist," this affects me very little. I am curious how many people are getting near the 2GB limit in just one year, though. I can see that being an issue. For others, do you really access email older than one year (or within the current fiscal year) more than once a month? once every other month? Is once a week too often to have to open an archive database to do a search when opening the database takes only a second or three? I personally can't remember the last time I opened up the FMPro archive of my emails from 1998 or so to 2005 -- so that shows you how often I need those emails I think I need. And until version 5, really, searching in PowerMail wasn't as robust as my FMPro database anyway.
Everyone has different circumstances, obviously, and CTM has to determine if someone's special circumstance is widespread enough to warrant development expense. Maybe a poll of users done beyond the this mail list even would be helpful.
