Davis-Besse does not require a source check of an instrument due to its use
for downposting. In use instruments are source checked daily and would
have an acceptable response check prior to use and after return, but not a
source check.

Surry Power Station would like to know if you require survey instruments
used to down post High Radiation Areas to be source checked after the down
posting survey is completed?

At Surry, survey instruments used to down post HRA are source checked after
the down posting survey is completed.

Thanks,

Subject: RE: Powernet: Quick Question (Outage Dose Goal Revision?)

Under these conditions Palo Verde would convene an ALARA Committee meeting
and revise the outage dose goal upward; conversely, if conditions were much
lower than anticipated we would use the same process to lower the goal.
Fortunately, we have done the latter numerous times. The upward revision
based on emergent work / scope change is also approved by the ALARA
Committee as a stretch goal (amount estimated above the original estimate).
While the final reported RFO dose would include all work, the ALARA
incentives offered to employees are based on the original dose estimation;
thereby. not penalizing (and disincentivizing) them because of conditions
beyond their control.

Subject: Powernet: Quick Question (Outage Dose Goal Revision?)

At SONGS, the outage dose goal is set prior to the outage like all sites.
At the onset of the outage, we had higher than expected dose rates (crud
burst with new generators) and revised our outage dose goal accordingly.
Would your site have revised the outage goal is similar event occurred?

In addition, during the outage it has been determined that additional
emergent work will be required to support increased inspections on our
steam generators which is dose impacting. Would your site revise your
outage dose goal a second time based upon the increased emergent work
expected? Or would your site maintain your revised dose goal as is and
track the emergent dose as separate goal?

Thanks,
