I just got my Belkin iPod Media Reader for my iPod which I've been using today, it works pretty well, take 4 AA batteries, I'm using 2200Ma batteries and its fairly heavy but its handy to be able to use the iPod for portable storage with a d-SLR. I know there are other portable HDD solutions but if you've got an iPod already and its > 20gig, US$99 is a comparatively small investment to increase the usability of the iPod.
