William,

You actually confirmed my doubts about this guy... he actually doesn't make me feel good when I see him :-) You'll probably gather more details about him (or better: my perception of him) from my other postings.

Just one more story about this "beauty retouching request": When I went to see the client for something else, I showed him one of the digital retouch jobs I had done for another portrait photographer. I personally thought it was really good: digital makeup & beauty retouching at its finest. His reaction to the retouch job, however, wasn't more than something like "hmm. yeah, looks okay to me".
It wouldn't have been too hard for him to say "Looks fantastic! Can you show me how to do this?" - but there you go: some people don't like to praise others, maybe because for some strange reason it'd make them feel small.

(And all at once this 'simple question' has turned into 'clients and psychology' .... :-)

Best wishes
Bjorn

PS: just because I am a photographer does not mean I am automatic photo-pals
with every other photographer I meet, as some photographers are out and out
sociopaths. When they talk of clients and suppliers they really mean
victims. Often, this type of attitude and behaviour is so deeply rooted that
they cannot see it themselves. They look at the world as something to be
used and exploited rather than a place to live and find peace in. Lacking
souls they prey on other people, and are very clever at finding weaknesses
in others for levering out what they want. They never see themselves as
perpetrators.

What has this got to do with digital imaging? Well, quite a lot........
