Hello All!
I am seeking some feedback with regard to a Tosbiba SP10 804 with what appears to be excessive heat problems and is sluggish.
When working, the area on the right where your wrist would be when typing can get as hot as 103plus degrees F. whilst the left hand side stays at around 70. I should make it clear that this only happens when it is really working hard on big files, however in more gentle us the temperature difference is about 25 degrees F and even this is uncomfortable and sufficient heat as to have caused the plastic to become raised in that area.
I have compared notes with Mike Wilkinson and his gets a shade warmer on the left, which is most surprising as he has an identical machine to mine and just a few weeks older.
I have returned the laptop to Toshiba twice and it is still the same though they said they have now changed the CPU and some hard drive ventilation stuff this last time. Another aspect of all this is that when the laptop was first sent back it was running fine...just hot. When it came back it seemed very sluggish generally...for example when doing a defrag of the H drive that did not really need it, it took ages with the task manager showing CPU activity at 0-2% for most of the time. Bringing up the Control panel takes some seconds to happen too!
Can anyone please suggest a way forward and if they have the same laptop could they get in contact so we can compare notes. Needless to say Toshiba have been informed of the continuing problem.
