if it can't reach at lest 75 it's probably worn out I'm afraid. Even in
a darkened room you might get some shocks in print.

it should be pretty accurate colour wise (IF you have a good Spyder),
but it certainly will be dark, what price new eyes?

>I'd like to know how important luminance is in this loop - is it
>simply a matter that while what I'm viewing on screen is accurate,
>it's not actually very bright??
it has to suit the viewing environment, you may get a little more life
from it in a very dark room. The black luminance (default 0,30 CdM2 in
Optical, last time I looked) is the difficult one, and usually the
first to go - if it's to low you'll lose shadow detail.)

>rather not have to buy if possible. Have considered a Lacie Electron
>Blue 19 (around Â270) - is this a decent monitor does anyone know?
pretty good ususally, with all screens there are rogues. the NEC
version (same tube if you're careful wich you buy) should be just as
good and a bit cheaper.
