Thank you to all those who replied both on and off list to my question. No matter how hard I kicked the dog I could not get it to work (re-naming, not the dog). In the end I took the alternative advice offered by David Riecks and downloaded the new version of iView. A chap in their tech dept very kindly supplied me with the "idiots guide to re-naming". I have enclosed his instructions below just incase others may be having problems. If this does not work for you I suggest you get your own dog, mine does not want to know anymore.
Again thanks to everyone who offered advice, even the medical advice offered by Mr Wilkinson. Callan 8-) I wanted to change _U32515E534.CR2 into shcr1001e.CR2 So the following is the way to do it... To do what you want you would use the batch rename with the 'incremental' option. In 'use string' you would type 'shcr'. This is the bit that is put on the front of every new filename. If you want the first item to be 1001 then you would type that in the 'With increments starting at' field. You would select the 'keep extensions' Option. Zero pad increments' NOT selected This will result in names shcr1001.CR2, shcr1002.CR2, shcr1003.CR2, etc. Note the 'e' is missing. To add the 'e' do another batch rename, this time using 'Add string'. Use 'e' in the 'Add text' filed and select the 'before extension' option. =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
