Concrete is one of the oldest and strongest building materials we have -- especially the more modern reinforced concrete. The Roman Coliseum is a concrete structure, as are the aqueducts built in ancient times -- many of which are still standing. Certainly the designs can be revisited. However, the real stumbling block is that people have been simply putting off decisions that should have been made decades ago, and that's why our nuclear waste is in temporary storage while the rest of the world has been using permanent storage all the while that we've been stalling. Our stupid 2-party system is keeping us from making the compromises needed to get these critical decisions made and codified into law. There are a lot of times I wish we had a parliamentary system where alliances are made between various factions and even the fringe groups have a voice.
