Well, I use Postgres NSS/PAM for ftp auth only. Also suxec seems to call
getpw* on each CGI execuion.

I've found apache-userdirldap module, that helps handling /~user URLs.
I'd like some good way for configuring VirtualHosts from LDAP or other
database. It's the one thing I don't like in apache.. 
But it's OT here ;)
