Some thoughts for the Solaris/AIX/HPUX crowd:

Bitching and moaning _might_ get something done, or it might just piss the authors off.
please quote, and i mean chapter and verse, any bitching and moaning. i think it's been the opposite. gee, steve fulton did nothing but bitch and moan, right? all that time he spent gathering libraries and researching and then writing an even-tempered and clear explanation of his difficulties was just, well, invisible?

Explicit lists of functions that are not available and other problems is a step in the right direction. At least if gives them something to work on.
you must not be getting all of the list's messages. in fact, you definitely aren't getting all the list messages, based upon the above two sentences.

The best thing to do is send patches. After all you have access to the machine, the operating system and the documentation for your favorite flavor of UNIX.
some of us aren't programmers, did that occur to you?

If you can't do that, how about making access to a suitable machine available for Bill and Ken.
did they say they don't have access to same? did anyone suggest that that was the problem?

if the developers need access to a solaris box, i'll set up an account right now. i have a couple of versions of solaris available, and a couple of hardware platforms to choose from. no charge, account for life. all the usual tools available.

It is hard to write to a platform you don't have access to. I don't know for sure, but I'd bet the reason _you_ found the problem is that you are the first people to try it on Solaris. I certainly can't afford it...
yeah, free is pretty expensive. sheesh.

i've been running qmailadmin for years now. We are not the "first people to try it on Solaris". only the last two revisions have broken things. both times, it's been mentioned here.

Who is VERY happy to see my pet change show up in qmailadmin. THANKS AGAIN!!!
Paul

who has always been incredibly delighted that qmailadmin exists in the first place, rick widmer's pet changes or not. this isn't an issue of people not appreciating the efforts of the developers. not at all. trying to turn it into that is a classic rhetorical dodge which isn't very honorable, in my opinion.
