The keystroke ALT+LEFT or RIGHT applies to the Note and Control editors. It moves the cursor to the next and previous note (controller). It has nothing to do with whether the event is auditioned.
In the Note editor, whenever the cursor lands on a note - whatever key you press to get to it, the note will be auditioned if you have the by now famous option "Send MIDI in Dialogs" selected. So, if you press ALT+LEFT or RIGHT, it will always audition a note as you always land on one. Alternatively, if you were on a note and press UP (to move off the note) and then DOWN again (to move back onto it), it will be auditioned again.
I deliberately did not audition control changes in the Control Editor as some effects of this could lead to unpredictable results and it is not easy to determine exactly what has happened.
As for the Event List, I was actually thinking of auditioning note events when you landed on them. Again, it would only apply to notes, not other events. Another thing I thought about was to write the note name as well as the numbers ...
But as for all these changes, we'll have to see. I've just finished recording an album so I need to pick up the threads of my life a bit.
