Wait, you just sparked an idea. I know Edirol HQ Orchestral has this but
I haven't confirmed this. I don't know anything about other synths.
Some of the instruments like violins, flutes, and stuff were sampled
with vibrato, and with no vibrato. On some of the voices, if you played
at a lower velocity, there would be no vibrato, when you played at
higher velocity, the vibrato would be used. And there are other versions
of those instruments, where if you have the mod wheel at a low setting
there is no vibrato, but if you turn the mod wheel up, the vibrato
version will be used instead. The velocity doesn't matter. It's not very
good sounding though as you can hear it fade between the two samples
especially if you do it right in the middle of a note. But, I do believe
that it is what VSW and MSW mean.
