It's another change for the worse; IMO. I think on other players, there is an alarm screensaver mode that can be configured. I think there's an open bug/enhancement request to have an option to make alarms turn music on, and then not be in alarm mode any more. i.e. you wouldn't then get the option to snooze or turn alarm off.
