I've created a Jira issue: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RAVE-6

Fantastic!

I really like these. I especially like how the "record" has come back with the "grooves". It also looks like sound waves emanating from the party.

All in all a brilliant interpretation of all the ideas and feedback on the list.

I'm +1 for these being out logos (we should really call a proper vote for this one since it is a largely irreversible decision, lets give it a couple of days for more feedback)

Hi Rolf,

I don't see any attachment (and I checked with Matt too - he didn't see
anything either) - could you please post you're latest revisions on the web
somewhere?

Thanks!

Subject: Re: Logo

All,
Thnx for the positive feedback!
I did some more work. Here's an update.

  * First of all I bumped up the resolution. Now I've got a file which
allows hi-res printing of the logo up to 10cm.
  * Next I did some tweaking based on your comments. There was a
preference for simplestyle1 but main comment was that it is too heavy. I
agree; the side-elements 'overruled' the word RAVE. I styled the
side-elements as an 'average' of simplestyle1 and 2.
  * I also used a nice bright red for the 'hole'. I was kind of reluctant
at first (because indeed I thought the hole should be black or dark grey),
but the red actually works really well.
  * I also looked at the Apache project branding requirements. Based on
that I included the "(tm)" symbol and created "powered by" and "inside"
variations of the logo.
  * I think there are situations where a square ratio icon is useful, so I
couldn't resist creating a light and heavy variation for that. These can
contain the "powered by" and "inside" additions as well.
  * Then I went overboard and also created a favicon ;-).
I've attached an image containing all the variations.
IMO we're quite there, nevertheless still love to hear your feedback.

Ate,

That's what I meant :). And that's why I didn't cast a vote (although it's
not technically a vote). So there:

+1 to both of them.

I don't know if you plan any further refinement. Making the dot in the
middle red for instance to add a touch of color. Now one might argue that as
the hole in the middle of the vinyl it should be black. Maybe enhancing the
light diffraction effect on the vinyl side? Anyway, it's an awesome (pun
intended) logo, simple and powerful.

Same for me, but both are great so I'd be happy whichever of these two is
chosen.

Great work,

I really like simplestyle1. I think it really jumps out at you. Very
sleek.

+1 I really like - great impact.

I suspect this would also work really well as an Icon. Square like

without the feather and with just the "white label" part of the record.

Great stuff!
