I don't have a problem with their licensing terms,
which seem pretty generous to me, as long as they
don't stop the annual resubscription process. It is a
lot of software for the money. I'm glad you posted
the announcement, and I'm considering subscribing
myself.

As for the "phone home" issue, the new operating
system does have in place the ability for Microsoft to
check your installed software through the update
process -- and some of their new licenses require you
to run updates. In those cases where you are buying a
time license to run the software (such as this
program) I think it's reasonable to expect that
Microsoft will use the technologies they have put in
place to enforce the license expiration terms. Again,
I don't see anything wrong with this as long as they
are upfront about it -- and the package license for
this subscription is pretty clear that you only have
rights to the software for subscription term.

I was only trying to answer Javier's question about
the license terms. As long as one understands that,
unlike standard software purchases, the license
expires and, if you are relying on the software you
will have to either buy outright licenses or continue
paying the subscription fee, I think it's a fair deal.
