Mike: You do not have to have an internet connection for the software to "call home" it can simply dial a (800) number through an available modem and phone line, this is how many software packages were registered in the pre-internet days... You can also disable the "call home" feature (maybe this feature is disabled or not available under this program), I have mine set up to prompt me before it send anything; however, I have found it helpful, on a couple of occasions when the system crashed, I got a diagnostic back that pointed to a video driver and instruction how to get an updated one; in my case, it solved the problem quickly and efficiently.
