I just signed for MAP subscription and have received a complete package. I
have now installed Server 20003 Ent. and XP Professional from the CD packs;
and have gracefully registered with Microsoft over the net. No problems so
far.

Undoubtedly, it seems like an excellent deal from the cost perspective. When
I was talking to their sales manager, he indicated thay have always had this
MAP program. It just happens that it is now getting more and more populat
among enterpernuers and resellers.

I used to subscribe to their MSDN Universal, which was a hefty cost per
year. My thoughts are, that once they get your MAC address and comnpany
identification, it becomes a coporate/company image of being good citizen in
working with MSFT. They also know that IE is the foundation of their Windows
technology - so for those who are serious users/developers on thier
platform - MSFT will have all the engines in place to get what they want
from your PC. Let us not kid ourselves. As developers we should be very well
be cognizant of that.

My other thoughts are, it is another way for Microsoft to push the product
out to everybody's home at the least amount of cost and a lot more to offer
in terms of desktop and its elegance, compared to their rivalaries for
Linux.

I find $314.00/yr. (including S&H), a very cheap suscription and lot cheaper
than car insurance we pay these days. I was very surprised with the bundle
of software I received - at least worth $25,000.00 for corporate licences.
It is also very well and professionally packaged with marketing and sales
training materials for those resellers/enetrperneurs who wish to engage
seriously in business with Microsoft.

My thoughts,
Hasmukh Daji
