I used a Burley trailer until about 2 1/2 to 3 yrs old. The Burley Solo tracks extremely well and never had issues with toppling. I rode over 5000 miles with my kids without incident, but YMMV :). I've heard of the double-trailers tipping over before.
After the Burley phase I went to a tandem/triplet with child stoker crank and then crank shorteners. Good luck!
