I recall in an early Rivendell Reader an installment of "Who Rides a Rivendell" (owners & their bikes), with a gentlemen who had a black Rivendell with no downtube decals (don't recall if it had a headbadge or not) as a theft deterent. I believe it was his commuter bike.
