My Subaru Outback serves that need well. It's also the household beast of 
burden. Hardened tie down loops in the cargo area for locking points.Mine 
is a 2008 with the now rare/extinct to the US market manual transmission. 
Sure nice to have its sure-footedness  in the snow or rain.
