David, I use the Rivendell Silver cranks which have a high end of 44 and low of 26. I never really need too low. I think a 44/30 would be good. I use a 11-32 cassette.
If I were you, I'd check out the Carmina cranks. They look very good, silver, and have a wide range of chainring options.
