I've been tracking annual bike miles since 2007, and the last 3 or 4 years
I have averaged 5000 miles per year. That became my goal for 2018. I am
not into event rides, races or long distance rides. I usually like to ride
30 or 35 miles for a typical day trip.

I retired at the end of last year, so this year was a new experience with
more free time and independence. So far, I've pedaled about 6000 miles
this year. I was on a bike tour in Germany over the entire summer, and
pedaled about 2200 miles. That bumped up my odometer to bypass the 5000
mile goal easily. It was also a great adventure. During my work years, I
never had the free time to go on a long bike tour, especially far away from
home.
