The Recyclery in San Rafael (a bit of a haul, I know) tends to have a fair number of used commuter type bikes at reasonable prices. I am going to be stopping by this afternoon and will let you know if I spot anything decent.
You might try California Pedaler in Danville - they always have used bikes as they have a good trade-in policy. The IGH might be tough to find on a used bike beyond a 3-speed.
