Somewhat different experience, wondering if it's due to tariffs though?

I ordered a Nor'easter frame on May 15th, to Tennessee. For sure got my shipping address correct, I even confirmed in the purchase order confirmation email.

I then received a Fedex tracking number, however I noticed it was showing delivery to SEONGNAM-SI KR (South Korea).

Now, today it is showing it was delivered and even signed for at a reception desk on 5/26. Quite confused how they would even get a delivery address wrong like that? I contacted Fedex but of course useless, they told me to contact Blue Lug.

Any similar experiences? I'm sitting here waiting for Blue Lug to respond to me email... Spent a lot on that frame and to get it delivered, I knew I'd have to pay some sort of tariff, but never expected them to get a completely wrong delivery address??

Add me to the list of people receiving a delayed Blue Lug tariff bill. I got a bill in the mail from FedEx last week for an order shipped on 9/4/25. 15% tax on $140 order (Nitto stem, Grand Bois tires, t-shirt) + $4 processing fee.  I’m going to go ahead and pay it with little hope of refund in the future. What a mess.

@Adam - did they say anything about orders placed after 2/20?  I assume that is when the "new" 10% tariff was implemented after the old ones were struck down.  Based on US prices, my Blue Lug order price was approximately cost neutral (price, shipping, tariff, processing fee) but includes delays and uncertainty.  All in all, I feel comfortable placing another Blu Lug order for items I can not find at US sellers.

I got an email and text from FedEx yesterday as well, asking for import fees on a Blue Lug order placed four months ago, in mid January. First time I'm hearing from them. I found a couple mentions online of other people disputing the charges and the bills were put on hold, but this didn't seem like an actual solution, just a delay.

I spoke with someone at FedEx and they said that orders placed before the 2/20 Supreme Court ruling still need to be paid, and that when refunds are issued to FedEx they will then pay that out to whoever paid the import fees (in this case, me). They also mentioned that there has been no action on the refunds yet.

Seems like options are either to pay and maybe get refunded some day, or don't pay and maybe get sent to collections (or the seller may have to pay it? uncool). It's all very annoying for sure, but even still, if I never get refunded for the import fee it will somehow be cheaper overall than buying from anywhere in the US.

I appreciate all the info in this thread. I just got an invoice in the mail for an order placed last September. 6 months ago!! But with the tariffs being struck down, I don't understand if I actually should pay this, since I have little faith that I will ever be refunded if this money is not actually due, as per the court ruling. Is anyone else confused about what effect the ruling(s) have on the liability for these fees? Thanks all!

@Donzaemon, that invoice includes duty, brokerage, and COD for late payment
If the vendor fills out the CN-23 customs form, and collects duty up front, you don't get charged brokerage + COD.  (4th time I've posted this on this thread).

But to get things you can't find stock here, and still be saving ab out 5% after duty, brokerage and COD, yes, it's still worth the effort.

I just got an email today from FedEx stating duties, taxes, and fees from a Blue Lug order I placed on 2/23/26. The percentage comes out to about 28%. Are you guys actually paying these invoices?

I received an order about 3 weeks ago, about $600 worth (split the shipment with a friend who decided he was going to get a lifetime supply of Grand Bois tires). Shipping was about $90 arrived to east coast USA in 5 days and I’ve yet to receive a tariff bill.

That's a brutal tariff rate since it shouldn't include shipping. This makes me think I'll hold off another minute. Best, Zach in ABQ

I ordered a M174AA handlebar, some shifters and small items from BlueLug in December.
Subtotal $128.22,  Shipping $37.83 and Grand Total $166.05

Today I got an email and text from Fedex for $55.7 which seems excessive.

Here's their breakdown:
  • Customs Duty USD   51.2
  • Disbursement Fee USD   4.5
  • Total USD   55.7

Your miles may vary, but when I received 2 separate orders from a different UK vendor Ratio Technology for their very fine derailleur and shifter kits to expand the cassette reach on my one-by mountain bike, I got the package and THEN Fedex kept sending me bills for the tariffs.  I refused to pay, in that I thought the tariffs were illegal, and the Supreme Court agreed.  I have since stopped getting the bills and nothing has changed insofar as my credit rating.  I suspect that FedEx is not line up with the special tariff court to get their refunds.  And all was well.

Ask your vendor if their experience was having to pay to get the item or if their customers later got a bill.

Hey Alex,

Thanks for the info, but that seems inconsistent with Carradice's own FAQ regarding shipping/duties/tariffs. On their site right now it says " Yes. Import duties are collected by the destination country and are not charged by Carradice. US and EU customers may be contacted by customs before delivery." which seems to imply their goods are shipping from overseas and not a warehouse in the US

Hi Matt,

Carradice includes the cost of import fees in their shipping charge. They ship items in bulk from the UK to a warehouse in the States and pay import costs at that time. Items for US customers ship from that warehouse, so you're essentially receiving something that was sent domestically. I ordered a Brompton bag from them back in the fall and paid no additional fees, but the shipping cost was definitely on the steeper side.

Hope this helps!

It really depends on the tariff rate for that specific type of clothing. It looks like something like that would be in the 3-6% range. I am not really good at figuring out the differences in tariffs on clothing because it breaks down by materials. Then there is the blanket 10% tacked on top. I think its safe to say that its probably going to be about 15% plus shipping company fees depending on how they do that.

I've received a couple of FedEx tariff bills, in the last year, for Bluelug deliveries.

They always arrive first by email (though I think there might have been texts as well).

As someone who is over 65 I am always being warned not to get fooled by parties trying to get money by text or email for purchases I have not initiated with them. That's good advice. So I just ignore the electronic billing and wait for the paper bill to arrive in the mail. I pay that.
