Hey all, *TLDR: In my opinion, it's in one's best interest to exercise the "dispute this invoice" option and email the account shown on FedEx tariff invoices.*
As many of you have written, I too ordered from Bluelug this year and received letter from FedEx to collect tariffs paid on my behalf to import these items. If you wait, like I did, for them to mail you a paper invoice, you will see there is an email in the top right-hand corner-ish area to dispute the charge. Well, given the absolute chaos and confusion caused by the orange s**t stain, I actually did send an email to dispute around $200 worth of charges citing recent Supreme Court decisions and ongoing legal challenges as my reason for withholding payment. Not really to my surprise, I received this reply this morning: *"Dear Valued FedEx Customer, Thank you for contacting FedEx Disputes.* *• The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that IEEPA tariffs charged by CBP were unlawful. We are assessing whether these invoices contain charges for IEEPA tariffs.• You do not need to take any action on these invoices at this time.* * The following link will guide you to recently posted information relating to the United States Supreme Court ruling and what it means for our customers - https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/international/us-tariffs-impact.html <https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/international/us-tariffs-impact.html>* *Thank you,* *FedEx U.S. Duty and Tax Department (Enterprise Business Services)"* I understand that this doesn't necessarily mean I won't eventually have to pay the tariff charges, but as I suspected, it is our right not to pay until a final decision has been made, as opposed to paying in good faith and hoping FedEx returns the money in the event the charges are all deemed illegal. I made my dispute based on the fact that I have been a Blue Lug customer for years and never once had any import fees levied until this year. YMMV, but worth taking a moment to pressure FedEx to stop sending these invoices. I feel they are exploiting consumer ignorance and believe there is little chance they will proactively issue any refunds down the road.
