Fine stranded cables can be used with set screw terminals if you use ferrules. You hint at a broader point: The industry is not providing solutions that the regulators are demanding. Any battery with BMS should have a remote inhibit. Problem solved. You would have to somehow transition from battery cable to some other cable type, because typical fusible disconnect switch lugs are not going to be rated to accept fine-stranded battery cable, especially in the required size.
