4D has had those modules for a very long time (Im not saying that's a bad thing) so I expect they are quite mature and usable. However, what disturbs me about a lot of development tool makers is that they reach that "certain size" where the company is not able to grow any more - maybe for competence of the management staff that wont wisely replace themselves OR that they fail to grow in a way by acquiring or moving into expanded markets, OR eventually and slowly crushed by market shifts. My impression of 4D as a product and as a company is that it reached that point years ago - kind of like BlueWorld, that eventually had to sell its core product to its biggest customer (they were nailed by problem #3). As someone who deals in multiple venues of business management - my own companies and also assisting the companies of others - I plan for "endgame". The alternative is to end up in a sort of limbo that isnt good for anyone - shareholders or product users.
